PowerBIKit makes it easy to visualize your data in Power BI with a plug-and-play approach. This guide will walk you through the simple steps to connect your own data to the PowerBIKit template. No technical expertise is required—just follow along, and your dashboards will be ready in minutes!

Part 1: Opening the Files and Verifying the Data Source
- Open both the Excel file and the Power BI template on your computer.
- Verify that the Power BI template is connected to the Excel file as a data source.
- If you are unsure, watch the tutorial: "How to Update The Data Source in Your Power BI Template."
- In the Excel file, navigate to the tab labeled "PowerBIKit | Data Source."
- This tab contains all the data that feeds into the Power BI template.
- Your own data will replace the existing sample data in this tab.
Part 2: Adding Your Data
- You can bring your data into the PowerBIKit Excel file in two ways:
- Option 1: Import your existing data tab from another Excel file into this workbook.
- Option 2: Copy and paste your data as values into the "PowerBIKit | Data Source" tab.
- Make sure your data aligns correctly with the structure of the template.
- The template supports 72 months (6 years) of data.
- If you don’t have data for all months, you can delete the values in the extra cells.
Part 3: Refreshing Power BI to Load Your Data
- Save the Excel file after adding your data.
- In Power BI, navigate to the Home ribbon.
- Click on "Refresh."
- Power BI will update the visuals with your newly added data.
- Double-check the numbers by comparing them to your source file.
That’s it! Your data is now connected to PowerBIKit, and your dashboards are ready.
